Preface
To
read this book may seem like a funny journey. The reader, upon reaching
the end, may feel he started from one point and reached another, quite
alien to him. At the conclusion of the journey one may wonder, “I did
not
know I was heading toward this!” Since many of us have not studied the
premises of our life, the wonder is valid.
Any
act of faith can lead us to total transformation of our being. If our
faith
in truth and love does not die at the hands of sex, we are ready to
open
the door to freedom from it.
Who
am I talking to in this book? To you or to myself? But does it really
matter?
Are we not all part of the same human community and do we not
collectively
share the same past and the same fate? Therefore, if the reader feels
that
some observations seem familiar, it may not really be a
coincidence.
I
suggest this book be read slowly. The reader may come across some
sutras
or pithy utterances interspersed here and there, needing earnest
contemplation.
The book, itself, represents a process of serious self-examination on
my
part. I sincerely wish the reader to accompany me on this fruitful
journey.
